The Tooth - Before and After

Abby has had this crazy front tooth that has been so loose it was sticking straight out. It's just been hanging there for about a month! But finally, yesterday at school, one of her friends accidentally hit her in the mouth and knocked it out. She lost it on the playground but she wrote the tooth fairy a note to explain and she still got her dollar!

Brad's birthday

We celebrated Brad's birthday last week. The kids had fun shopping and picking out just the right present for Daddy. Abby got him some UK lounge pants and Aaron got him a box of golf balls which he then opened and took out all 24 golf balls to show Daddy each one!

Easter

Easter

We had a lot of fun coloring eggs and making cookies the night before Easter. Abby and Aaron made the cookies all by themselves! Mom just followed behind and cleaned up the messes.

A visit from the Hoekstras

Our friends from Michigan, Mike and Jennifer, Alison, Caleb and Benjamin, came to visit and went to church with us Palm Sunday. It was great to see them, and the kids had so much fun playing!

Big Snow

We finally had enough snow to play in! Abby and Aaron have been waiting all winter for a big snow. It was pretty cold, but they had fun playing and eating the snow!

More Christmas

We spent New Years with Brad's sister in Marysville, OH. It was really our Christmas with his side of the family. We all had a good time, especially the kids.

Abby and Shelby love playing together! I thought all the kids did great getting along and playing.

Christmas Day

Christmas morning was a lot of fun at the Smart house. Santa brought Abby an American Girl doll and he brought Aaron the much-talked-about Mickey Mouse Clubhouse.

Aaron is ready for next fall in case UK needs help.
GO CATS!

Aaron Claus

Ho Ho Ho! Do you think he's on the nice list or the naughty list?

Attempting Christmas pictures

These are some of our attempts at getting Christmas pictures. We finally got a good one after many tries!

Christmas Play

Our Children's Christmas play at church went well. Abby was the narrator and she did a super job. We were so proud of her!

No, the play wasn't about Santa. It was a manger scene. But when Aaron was asked what animal he wanted to be, he said a reindeer. The bible is not real specific about what animals were in the stable anyway, right?

Gingerbread Creations

Abby and Mommy have made a gingerbread house for the past few years. We continued that tradition this year. And this year, Aaron helped make a gingerbread train. We had lots of fun and ate lots of candy!

Flower girl again

The Friday before Christmas, Abby was the flower girl in a friend's wedding. She did a great job and she was told she looked like a princess. The ring bearer has a crush on her. Who wouldn't??

Christmas Parade

Abby and Aaron rode on a float in the Christmas parade last Saturday. Abby was the first girl there, so she got to be Mary in the manger scene.

Aaron was not playing Joseph...He just wanted to sit beside Abby.

Halloween

Abby and Aaron had so much fun carving our pumpkin and trick or treating. Abby was dressed as "Barbie, the Island Princess" and Aaron was "Bob the Builder". Aaron used his toolbox to put his candy in and boy, was there a lot of candy!!!

More Washington

Of course, our favorite part of every vacation is trying to find a Ben and Jerry's!

More Washington

This was taken from the Lincoln Memorial. I was a little worried that Aaron might jump in the water to chase the ducks, but he was pretty good!

Just hanging out in Alexandria, Virginia where we stayed.

We went to the National Zoo one day. Abby and Aaron's favorite thing was seeing the Panda bears.

More Washington

Abby and Aaron were both very excited about seeing the White House. (I'm sure Aaron didn't have a clue what it was, he had just heard Abby talk about it.) The security around the White House is amazing so you can't get too close, but it was neat to see anyway. Next time we will try to get a tour.

The Capitol was pretty cool. We could walk up to the steps but we really didn't want to tangle with the guards with machine guns. So, we kept our distance. You never know what Aaron might do!

This is Aaron and Abby on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial. Abby really liked the big statue of Abe inside.
